Our customer, Moto Sawtry Services, required the formation of extensive concrete areas within their service station. With over 8,000m² of concrete to pour, a rapid installation process was essential to maintain the construction schedule, especially given the large number of bay sections involved. The contractor faced a tight timeline to complete the work, necessitating a solution that would maximize productivity and efficiency.
How it works
The K-Form uPVC screed rail provides the construction industry with an economical, efficient, and environmentally friendly alternative to steel or wooden shuttering. Made from recycled materials and fully certified by the BBA Certification, K-Form is lightweight, durable, and can remain in place after concrete pouring. It’s easily cut to length on-site and features pre-drilled holes in the vertical face for locating steel dowel bars, as well as in the base for mortar anchoring. The design also includes end clips for joining and a removable top strip for joint sealing. Compatible with twin beams, Bunyan rollers, or vibro strikes, the K-Form K135 and its extenders eliminate the need for traditional shuttering systems.
The Solution
K-Form was chosen to create quick and precise bay sections with integrated isolation joints. Compared to traditional shuttering systems, K-Form offered a unique and innovative solution that accelerated the pouring process by 40%, while eliminating the time spent on removing and cleaning shutters. Additionally, K-Form’s recycled plastic system significantly reduced waste, as all components are fully utilized.
